Nearly all of the over 600 seats in the church were taken. “I’ve never seen the church so full” could be heard in whispered voices. And there were not only beautiful songs to listen to, but also to dance along to. Christmas carols in French, Polish, Swedish and English, celebrating the beauty of nature in Norwegian and Finnish, passionate Argentinian love, plus faith and hope from South Africa, as well as in German and English. The encore, Stevie Wonder’s “Faith” in Mark Brymer’s arrangement, got everyone onto their feet, swinging, grooving and rejoicing. Singing is joie de vivre! Our fantastic band accompanied us with much verve. We were in top vocal form thanks to our choirmaster Eugen Zigutkin, to whom we owe not only the great program, but also the fact that we are singing more and more confidently as a choir. We sang “Wo Menschen sich vergessen” together with the audience, an important and touching song, especially at this point in time. The message of hope, of listening to each other, of peace, was always present in our one-hour Winter Concert. This we will continue to make a song and dance about this message, in many languages, in many voices, in many ways – with you! Especially, of course, in our anniversary year, 30 years of the International Choir Potsdam. The first dates will be released soon 🙂
