Our name says it all! The International Choir Potsdam is a colourful community: we are home to singers from many different age groups and backgrounds, countries and cultures.
We warmly welcome people from Potsdam and all over the world – sing with us!
Our repertoire is as colourful and diverse as we are, across many languages and genres – from classical choir music to folk and modern pop… and everything beyond and in between!
Our concept
We are around 50 active singers from Potsdam and the surrounding area with diverse cultural backgrounds, speaking many different languages, who enjoy music and singing together. We particularly welcome singers whose first language is not German. The International Choir Potsdam was founded in Potsdam in 1995. We see ourselves as an intercultural, socially integrative choir and seek to contribute with our music to promoting communication and peaceful cultural exchanges within Germany, between the generations, and between countries. This is why we have performed several times at festivals celebrating cultural diversity and peace, such as the “Europafest” in Potsdam.
We see our music as a meeting place that captures diversity and reflects the richness of cultures from all over the world. Our repertoire of more than 120 songs comes from many different parts of the world.
As a mixed SATB choir, we often sing challenging arrangements and compositions (including our own), mostly a capella and for up to nine different voices. If it fits the song and the arrangement, we also sing with piano accompaniment or with our own band, which provides the right groove, for example with bass, guitar and cajón.
While our choirmaster is in charge of the overall artistic direction, important issues are discussed and decided collectively by the choir. We are a lively choral community that flourishes through the active commitment of its singers. In 2025, 30 years after our foundation, we secured as a cooperation partner the “Soziale Stadt ProPotsdam”, with whom we share our vision and who supports our activities.
